Individuals using PowerPoint have been advised to lock their presentations using a password.

According to Alexander Smith in his blog for itbusinessnet.com, it is easy and prudent to lock presentations so others cannot access them, especially if they are being stored on a shared server or computer.

To do so, simply open the presentation in question, click on Office and then click Prepare.

Next, go into Encrypt Document and choose a password for the file.

Re-enter the password in the second dialogue box and click OK.

Furthermore, the presentation can then be locked against future amendments and set to a read-only format by ticking the Mark as Final box and clicking OK.

Another handy feature of PowerPoint is the ability to add hyperlinks to a presentation.

These make it easier to navigate around a presentation or to access relevant information outside of the presentation.

When setting up a hyperlink, the user can make it either standout or be invisible. To do so, select the Autoshape surrounding the hyperlink and choose to either Fill or No Fill the object.
