PowerPoint has been voted in the top ten for e-learning tools available today, it has been revealed.
According to the Centre for Learning and Performance Technologies, the Microsoft program offers users a wide range of capabilities and is easy to use and quick to learn.
PowerPoint has been ranked as the seventh best tool for e-learning in a poll of over 20 e-learning professionals on the site.
Jane Bozarth, author of Better Than Bullet Points: Creating Engaging E-Learning with PowerPoint, said: "This may be the only authoring tool you'll ever need. PowerPoint can be so much more than a presentation tool for those willing to exercise some creativity: try it for building interactive quizzes and simulations. [It is] intuitive and familiar."
Other professionals who expressed their fondness for the program included Stephen Downs, a researcher at the US National Institute of Research and Clive Shepherd, a UK consultant.
In other news, the use of PowerPoint as a collaborative tool was recently discussed in an article for PR Canada.
Dave Boggs, chief executive officer of Syberworks, noted that an efficient tool allows the "free-flow sharing of knowledge" while also giving structure to the information.
