Planar has unveiled its new Viper 3-chip HD projector, the first of its kind to have the capability of a 10,000:1 contrast ratio.
The product utilises 3-chip LDP technology to bring high-definition performance to large screen (greater than 110 inches) projection.
Other features of the product include a range of settings to suit different environments, five lens options, power zoom and focus and horizontal and vertical lens shift capabilities.
Joel Silver, president and founder of the Imaging Science Foundation, noted: "Viper's full complement of installer-friendly options and tools will enable Planar dealers to create world-class home theatres that fully exploit this projector's significant technical capabilities."
In related news, it was recently reported that the UK projector market has seen a significant fall in prices in the last year.
According to research carried out by GfK Retail and Technology, the average price of a projector in the UK is currently £76 cheaper now than it was 12 months ago.
