A business website has claimed that dreaming up a new persona can help give people confidence when they are making presentations to others.

According to Management-issues.com, imagining you are a "sparkier, more fluent, more assured, more attractive" version of yourself can help to diminish fears of insecurity surrounding your presentation.

The website also recommends that rather than thinking that you are presenting to business associates, you imaging giving the speech to "a group of close friends who are all rooting for you".

Also important, according to the business advice site, is the way you handle your presentation equipment, with the website recommending that you take note of how you are holding it while you practice.

In that way, when it comes to the real thing you can avoid looking nervous or over-the-top when you hold pointers or change PowerPoint slides.

Finally, the website advises those making a presentation to imagine the worst case scenario beforehand to ensure that the experience of the actual presentation is more enjoyable.

"Once you've analysed that hellish vision and incorporated any useful data from it into the real presentation, you are far les likely to be thrown off course during the real performance," it claims.
